This project examines the condition of the underwater soundscape in a Caribbean coral reef ecosystem and assess the location and frequency of vessel noise above natural conditions. Key components of the natural condition at the parks include acoustical cues for larval fish and marine mammal sounds and response to vessel traffic during various seasonal and diurnal periods. Understanding the timing and duration of mammal sound is particularly relevant considering proposals to relax regulations on understudied populations of humpback whales in the Atlantic.
