History Associates, Inc. (HAI), a professional museum services firm based in Rockville, Maryland, was contracted using Fiscal Year 2020 funding to produce a MCMP for CUVA. An experienced team of museum professionals conducted a site visit to the park and assessed the NPS museum collections from November 2 through 6, 2020. The MCMP team, consisting of Senior Collections Manager Christina Conn (remotely), Archivist Megan O’Hern Crook, Archivist James McIntyre and Digital Archives Specialist Marielle Gage, participated in a five-day site visit in coordination with the curatorial staff at CUVA and MWRO. The goals of this site visit were to assess the “as is” state of the collections material and storage practices, supplemented by stakeholder discussions with CUVA and regional office staff to understand the strategic vision, priorities, and long-term goals for the collections and archives of CUVA.
