This Seafloor Mapping Project is a task within the larger service-wide NPS Ocean and Coastal Resources Branch (OCRB) Benthic Habitat Mapping priority project. The primary goal of this project is to provide the 88 ocean and Great Lakes park units with seamless topobathymetric maps combining land elevation (topography) and water depth (bathymetry) data. The project uses publicly available topobathymetric models (DEM file format) from the USGS Coastal National Elevation Database (CoNED) and NOAA Continuously Updated Digital Elevation Models (CUDEM) Bathymetric-Topographic Tiles, as well as datasets developed in-house by NPS and partners using publicly available data. NOAA Continuously Updated Shoreline Product (CUSP) was used when available. Where CUSP was incomplete or unavailable, NOAA National Shoreline Product was used instead. Park boundaries are defined by the NPS Land Resources Division (July 2021) and are available for download on IRMA Data Store. Additional GIS products were derived from the source data and created in-house by the NPS. The products presented are based on available data as of August 2021, and therefore, coverage gaps may be present. The zipped GIS file for each park unit includes the following: • Seamless topobathymetry: DEM and hillshade clipped to each park boundary with a 1 nautical mile boundary buffer • Topography: DEM, hillshade, elevation contours • Bathymetry: DEM, hillshade, depth contours • Shoreline polyline feature used to delineate between land and water Note: This project reference is part of the larger Seafloor Mapping collection on IRMA Data Store.
