Johnson M. 1995. Special History Study, Final Report, Building 3 and Wager Lots 53-A and 54-B, High Street, 1796-1954.
Using the new information generated by this project the present report covers the history of Wager Lots 53A, 54B, and Building 3 from the earliest written historical documentation to acquisition by the Park in the 1950s Among the findings of the present report: 1. The frame building standing on Wager Lot 53A in 1849 or some other frame building likely still stood on the property in 1869 contrary to statements made by Snell in his 1980 report The brick and stone building that replaced it was built between December 1869 and 1872. 2. The history section of the Historic Structures Report assumed all of Park Building was built after 1901 an assumption disproved when architects Fields and Shufelt concluded Park Building was constructed in two stages This report pinpoints the two construction dates The portion on Wager Lot 53A was built late in 1898 or 1899 while the portion on Lot 54B was built in 1902.
