Archeological Monitoring-Park Maintenance Repair: Lateral-Sag-Failure Section Along the Northern Portion of the First Terrace, "Harper" Gardens Wall, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

Inashima PY. 1981. Archeological Monitoring-Park Maintenance Repair: Lateral-Sag-Failure Section Along the Northern Portion of the First Terrace, "Harper" Gardens Wall, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

By the summer of 1981, lateral sagging along a section of the northern portion of the first terrace, "Harper" gardens' wall had reached a pronounced state. The extent of this bulging indicated that a significant loss of structural integrity had occurred. In order to repair this damage and to preclude its progression to the adjoining wall sections, a decision was reached by HAFE to rebuild the affected wall section. In association with this work, archaeological monitoring was requested in order to forestall and adverse actions upon archaeological resources.
