This report documents the archeological excavations at the Machine Shop Site on Virginius Island, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (46JF230). The site is located along the southern boundary of the island along the Shenandoah River, north-west of the ruins of the 1849 cotton factory. Archeological field investigations were performed by the Division of Archeology, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park from November 23, 1993 through May 5, 1994 as weather would allow. A total of three 10ft by 10ft units, and one 10ft by 5ft unit was excavated.
