Mosquitoes are seasonally abundant in Everglades National Park and have more contact with visitors and park staff than any other form of wildlife. Mosquitoes also have the capacity to transmit microbial pathogens that can affect both human and animal health. A total of 192,440 mosquitoes were trapped during June-August 2013-14 and assayed for the presence of arboviruses. A total of 50 arboviruses were isolated which included six species, all of which have potential to infect humans and wildlife.
