Castillo de San Marcos National Monument Visitor Use Study
Resource Systems Group. 2018. Castillo de San Marcos National Monument Visitor Use Study. White River Junction, VT 05001
This report presents the results of the evaluative phase of a visitor use study at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (NM). The purpose of the evaluative phase of the visitor use study was to collect feedback from visitors during the spring peak visitor use season about current park operations for interpretation and education, social conditions in the fort, and visitors’ expectations and preferences for learning experiences. A visitor survey was administered at Castillo de San Marcos NM as an onsite intercept, onsite completion survey. The study population included visitors 18 years of age or older visiting Castillo de San Marcos NM during the study period of March 31 – April 9, 2017. Survey administration dates were selected to be representative of the peak spring visitor use season at the park, and to include a time period when school groups and other organized groups were likely to be present in the Castillo. Within the peak use period, the survey administration dates were selected to include both weekdays and weekend days. The survey was administered at the park entrance for a select range of hours on each sampling day, which coincided with the hours of operation for the park.
