Report Supplements and Field data for the Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project of National Capital Region Parks
2003-2020. Report Supplements and Field data for the Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project of National Capital Region Parks. National Park Service
This reference is an assemblage of field and report data collected as part the baseline vegetation inventory for the park unit. The files include high and low resolution map layouts, vegetation plot data, field photos, accuracy assessment contingency table, maps showing locations of vegetation plots and accuracy assessment plots. The baseline vegetation classification and maps of the National Capital Region parks were developed as one unit, which increased the robustness of the analyses. Sampling plans for NCR parks were largely based on a preliminary analysis of existing vegetation data in the region, a regional rapid assessment study, and other park studies. To fill the data gaps, a total of 578 quantitative vegetation plots were collected in natural and seminatural vegetation within and in the vicinity of NCR parks from 2003 to 2006. In addition, supplementary data were gathered from other projects and initiatives in the region to form a regional dataset of 3,005 plots. The plot dataset and report supplements were partitioned into subregional datasets and subsequent smaller datasets for classification analyses.
