This report synthesizes discussions from a scoping meeting held in 2004 and a follow-up conference call in 2019. Chapters of this report discuss the geologic heritage, and geologic features and processes within Redwoods National and State Parks, highlight geologic issues facing resource managers, describe the geologic history leading to the present-day landscape, and provide information about the previously completed GRI map data. A GRI map poster (separate product) illustrates these data. Geologic features, processes, and resource management issues identified include plate tectonics, Josephine ophiolite, Franciscan Complex, Coast Range thrust, Grogan fault zone, Coyote Creek diatreme, Wimer Formation, Prairie Creek Formation, Battery Formation and marine terraces, coastal and offshore resources, intertidal zone, Redwood Creek, Redwood Creek watershed, Redwood Creek estuary, climate change, dam removal in the Klamath watershed, lanslides, marijuana cultivation, active faults and earthquakes, and tsunamis.
