During GLBA field surveys, observation data are directly recorded into an ArcGIS file geodatabase through a custom application that runs on laptops and later iPads. Data collected include murrelet bird group observations, their relation to line transects, covariates, tracklogs, and GPS points made on survey transects. These are stored in their original raw form after the field survey and are never edited. Once quality control processes are completed a separate corrected version is produced as deliverable KM_D.
