Coming to Terms with Climate Change: Working Definitions, v1.0

National Park Service. 2021. Coming to Terms with Climate Change: Working Definitions, v1.0. Fort Collins, CO

Climate change is a multi-disciplinary challenge that affects resources, assets, operations, visitor experience and human well-being across the National Park System. When multiple disciplines address a common challenge, their specialized vocabularies can result in inconsistent use of important words or terms, causing confusion, misunderstanding, and inefficiencies in collaboration. The purpose of this glossary is to clarify definitions of key climate change-related terms and support effective communication and action among staff of the Climate Change Response Program and other NPS staff, collaborators, and partners.
