Results on the establishment of permanent vegetation monitoring plots on York Island, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore

Meeker J. 1999. Results on the establishment of permanent vegetation monitoring plots on York Island, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore

Six permanent plots were established during August, 1998 on Yok Island, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore (AINL) to quantify the baseline vegetative conditions in this forested habitat. The methods used in establishing these plots were the same as those used in establishing 49 additional plots located on Outer, Devil's and Raspberry Islands in 1997. This standardized approach will allow comparison of those areas that were recently disturbed by logging (such as the York Plots) to those with no record of logging disturbances (such as the old growth on Outer, Devil's and Raspberry).
