There are seven units of the National Park System located on the Great Lakes. While these lands and waters encompass only two percent of the acreage of all the ocean and coastal national park units, they represent 15% of the total water and 12% of the shoreline of that group. There are an additional five park units located within the Great Lakes watershed: Cuyahoga Valley National Park and James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Ohio; Keweenaw National Historical Park in Michigan; Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site and Women’s Rights National Historical Park in New York. All but the latter two are located in the NPS Midwest Region.
