2017 Supplemental Amphibian and Breeding Bird Monitoring for the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore
Casper GS. 2017. 2017 Supplemental Amphibian and Breeding Bird Monitoring for the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore
The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore (Lakeshore) conducted amphibian and breeding bird surveys at eleven sites in 2017 consisting of visual searches, point counts, and acoustic monitoring (Table 1). The amphibian survey is part of a larger comprehensive coastal wetland survey being led by Northland College to assessing climate vulnerability and adaptation opportunities for Apostle Islands wetlands. Sites were chosen that include the major coastal wetlands within the park. Five of the sites are part of the NPS Great Lakes Monitoring Network’s long-term amphibian monitoring program.
