Monitoring of soil removal behind the building in 1991 showed the soil contained numerous artifacts, including early nineteenth-century materials. Staff archeologists took over the task of removing the soil in controlled, recorded excavations. This report describes in greater detail the documentary record of Building 37, archeological field and lab procedures, the stratigraphy and features, the artifacts and the recommendations.
