The Special History Study presents a 200-year "timeline" chronicling the site and the building from 1752 to 1952, then a brief summation of Building 40s pre-Civil War history. A detailed account of the structure follows, beginning with the early 1864 destruction of the building and continuing to park acquisition in 1953.
