Post-fire endophytes of Pinus Pungens trees five years after the Chimneys 2 wildfire

Hughes KW. Post-fire endophytes of Pinus Pungens trees five years after the Chimneys 2 wildfire. Research Permit and Reporting System

Culturable endophytes of Pinus pungens needles were evaluated 5 years after the Chimney Tops II fires. Two of three populations were evaluated. Results showed that a rapid turnover of endophytes has occurred in the years since the last evaluations (2017 and 2018) with an especially aggressive fungus, Lophodermium australe dominating the endophyte population. Beta diversity has sharply decreased.
