Temporal rather than spatial variability impacts nurdle abundance. Nurdle hunts were useful for non-scientists to participate. Foam and fragments were the most abundant microplastics and sources are likely oceanic. Scientific interns were trained in microplastic procedures that are transferrable and these were a useful tool for teaching on this issue. There are significant opportunities for A Rocha and NPS CANA to collaborate on educational events and social media.
