This Transfer Agreement (TA) documents the responsibilities of the Commanding Officer, Naval Station (NAVSTA) New York and the Commanding Officer, Northern Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NORTHDIV) for the transfer of claimancy of NAVSTA New York, from the Commander in Chief Atlantic Fleet (CLF) to the Commander, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC). The property being transferred is the Fort Wadsworth site of NAVSTA New York. The Fort Wadsworth site includes approx. 83 building, 444 units of family housing, a 50-room Navy Lodge, facility infrastructure (utilities), misc support facilities (roads, parking areas, etc.) and 226 acres. Fort Wadsworth was scheduled to be transferred to US Department of Interior (DOI), Parks Department on 31 August 1994. Due to reconsideration by DOI only 2 months prior to NAVSTA New York closure, numerous layaway items normally performed by the closing activity will be performed by the Caretaker Site Office (CSO) and funded by CLF.
