Southeast Alaska Network water quality and streamflow monitoring SOP 7: Data Evaluation and Grading in Aquarius, version 1.0
Goodwin D and Ziomek T. 2022. Southeast Alaska Network water quality and streamflow monitoring SOP 7: Data Evaluation and Grading in Aquarius, version 1.0. NPS Southeast Alaska I&M Network, Juneau, Alaska.
This reference is standard operating procedure (SOP) 7 from the FQ-2022.1 protocol package, in effect as of the 2021 monitoring season. At the end of the field season, raw water quality data (both monthly site visit files and continuous sonde time series) are imported to Aquarius by monitoring site. Readings are double checked for import errors and missing values, outliers and suspect points are flagged, and all data are assigned a quality grade. Where sensors were recalibrated during a monthly site visit, fouling drift is assessed using Aquarius’ multipoint correction function. Generally, USGS guidelines and standard procedures for continuous river monitoring (Wagner et al. 2006) are followed, with some modifications required by logistical constraints. Once sonde times series are graded and corrected, the site’s cumulative record is validated, certified, and published as deliverable FQ_Q (SOP 8).
