Summary of collecting small leaf samples from several localities in Everglades National Park. Research Permit and Reporting System

This was a research project designed to investigate the genetic relationships of and diversity within the Everglades remnant populations of wild cotton, Gossypium hirsutum. During late January of this year (2022) I surveyed previously known localities in the Everglades and elsewhere in southern Florida, and took small leaf samples for DNA extraction and genome sequencing, as detailed in Federal and State permits. These are now with me in Iowa, and will be used toward the stated objectives.
