Monitoring Sudden Oak Death, Phytophthora ramorum, on Mt. Wanda at John Muir National Historic Site. Research Permit and Reporting System
In 2021, the park developed a pilot monitoring program to better understand the presence of P. ramorum on Mt. Wanda. As part of the U.C. Berkeley SOD Blitz program, 63 tissue samples were collected from California bay laurel (U. californica) using protocols developed by SOD Blitz program and five were confirmed positive. However, these trees did not meet the criteria for removal.
