The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) New York District (NYD) is constructing a storm risk reduction project for the East Rockaway Inlet to Rockaway Inlet and Jamaica Bay area in the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn in New York City. Gateway National Recreation Area requested assistance in reviewing USACE project plans and also identifying appropriate mitigation for any impacts the project may have on sediment transport processes to ensure that park beaches are not negatively impacted. This is final memo developed by EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA) in response to TAR 19876.
