The thesis begins with the creation of Yellowstone National Park and moves through the expansion of the National Park System, the creation of the National Park Service, the "See America First Movement," and travel/tourism to and in National Parks to include trains, automobiles, travel and auto clubs, and visitation numbers. The thesis also discusses functions of the National Park System. Paul Herman Buck (August 25, 1899 – December 23, 1978) was an American historian and a Professor of History. He won the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1938 for The Road to Reunion, 1865-1900 and became the first Provost of Harvard University in 1945.
