Delineating populations and important habitats is an important component of large-scale conservation efforts. However, species-specific mapping guidelines can often vary considerably among state agencies as well as conservation organizations. This document is intended to (1) summarize existing Wood Turtle mapping protocols practiced throughout the Northeast and (2) propose a broadly applicable approach for mapping Wood Turtles throughout the species range.
