Polychlorinated Biphenyl and Organochlorine Pesticide Concentrations in Forage Fish from the Anacostia River Watershed: 2018-2020

Perry ES and Pinkney AE. Polychlorinated Biphenyl and Organochlorine Pesticide Concentrations in Forage Fish from the Anacostia River Watershed: 2018-2020. Research Permit and Reporting System

PCB concentrations in forage fish (ummichogs and banded killifish) were measured in 2018-2020 in support of the Anacostia River Sediment Project. Before and after monitoring of these forage fish species is a key tool for evaluating the success of cleanup and source control actions. Highest concentrations were in Lower Beaverdam Creek, which may have PCB sources. Northwest and Northeast Branch may be suitable tributary reference areas. Fletchers Cove (Potomac R>) may be a tidal reference area.
