This database includes all data related to the on-going sochan harvest monitoring program. In 2019, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) came into agreement with Great Smoky Mountains National Park to harvest sochan plants in the park for traditional purposes. This program is authorized under the 2016 NPS rule, Gathering of Certain Plants or Plant Parts by Federally Recognized Indian Tribes for Traditional Purposes (36 CFR 2.6).
