The following technical report presents a preliminary archeological assessment of Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island, Borough of Richmond, Richmond County, New York City, New York State. Fort Wadsworth is a federally-owned, former military facility currently in the process of being transferred to the National Park Service. The National Park Service will assume site management responsibilities and will interpret Fort Wadsworth as a key historic resource within the Gateway National Recreation Area. The archeological assessment presented here forms part of a broader cultural resource management plan being prepared for Fort Wadsworth under the auspices of the North Atlantic Regional office (NARO) of the National Park Service. Hunter Research, Inc. performed this study under subcontract to OZ Architecture, the latter firm being under contract to the National Park Service.
