From 2007-2009, a small and medium-sized mammal (excluding bats) inventory was conducted at Big Cypress National Preserve (BICY) and Everglades National Park (EVER) in an effort to try to find and record a comprehensive list of the species found within the park. A combination of temporary and permanent remote cameras, live trapping, track plates, and a variety of opportunistic methods (i.e., hiking surveys, night surveys, owl pellet analyses) were used to detect various mammal species. In an effort to comply with Executive Order 13642, Making Open and Machine Readable the New Default for Government Information (GPO 2013), almost 20 years after this inventory project ended, the numerous datasets created as a result of the study were cleaned and processed in order to become machine readable and accessible to the public.
