The aims of this project were to (1) determine whether there is size-and-stage assortative mixing in the spatial proximity of S. holbrookii and at what scale this may occur, (2) determine whether spatial patterns are temporally preserved, (3) quantify the relative contribution of various habitat features in explaining observed patterns in the spatial organization of individuals, and (4) describe and characterize the nature and spatial scale of habitat influence on assortative mixing. This investigation will aid our understanding of nonbreeding spatial of patterns of eastern spadefoots and identify possible mechanisms for spatial assortative mixing of amphibians on the landscape.
