Effigy Mounds National Monument FFI Fire Effects Monitoring Data

Leis S. 2023. Effigy Mounds National Monument FFI Fire Effects Monitoring Data

Fire effects monitoring data collected at Effigy Mounds National Monument Harpers Ferry, IA. The data were collected during spring, summer, and fall field seasons by the fire effects monitoring crew out of Wilson's Creek National Battlefield from 2003- 2014. The EFMO FFI database primarily contains fuels monitoring and fire severity data. Woodland fuels monitoring was done using four standard Brown's lines per plot. Data were collected from 50 x 20 m plots. The published protocol (Leis et. al. 2011) can be found on the HTLN website http://science.nature.nps.gov/im/units/htln/library/Vegetation/PlantComm/PlantCom_2009_p.pdf. A second administrative unit was created to house fuels data collected for a vegetation mapping project by contractors. The protocol for placement of transects differed from Leis et al. 2011 and can be obtained upon request.
