The Joshua Tree National Park Air Quality Monitoring Program documents air quality conditions in the park, identifies the sources of pollution that affect park air quality, tracks air quality trends, and helps inform management decision-making to protect park resources. There are three primary air quality monitoring stations. The park participates in a number of collaborative air quality monitoring efforts with other entities. Air quality conditions have improved somewhat since monitoring began, but air quality continues to be a serious concern, especially in the summer months.
