The Rehabilitate Sun Notch Trail Landscape project corrects issues stemming from visitor use damage along a popular front-country trail. This includes disturbance originating from a 2012 trail reroute, continual social trail creation, and vegetation trampling. Work completed during the 2022 field season includes installation of fencing; collection of 615 grams of native seed; propagation and care of 1,091 containerized native plants; propagation of an additional 196 native plants; planting of 1,005 native plants in restoration areas; invasive vegetation surveys in the project area; and social trail obliteration. In 2023 vegetation monitoring, seed collection, and additional planting and seeding to augment revegetation efforts will continue.
