In 2022, managers at Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve (GLBA) initiated the Environmental Monitoring and Compliance Program (EMCP) for cruise ships operating in the park. This report (1) describes the background and justification, including rationale, behind the program’s attributes; (2) summarizes qualitative and several quantitative metrics of compliance found during inspections of ships conducted during the late summer and early fall of 2022; (3) archives perspectives and observations by inspectors that conducted the audits; and (4) archives a copy of the inspection checklist.
