From the front cover: "Someone once said that a picture is worth a thousand words. The 2018 Historic Preservation Calendar has both: the photographs and the poetry. To create this year's calendar, we explored poems written by West Virginians, both modern and historic, and chose selections to capture an aspect of our historic resources that we have not explored before. You will find a variety of connections between the poetry and the places; the poet may be directly associated with the location; while in some instances, a certain historic building or streetscape captured the spirit of the poem.
