Lowell: The Spindle City, Historic Resource Study, Lowell National Historical Park

Fortado S and Twarog EE. 2023. Lowell: The Spindle City, Historic Resource Study, Lowell National Historical Park. National Park Service

This HRS examines Lowell’s history from the early 1600s to the present. It focuses on six organizing historical themes: history of the environment, industrial capitalism, labor, gender, race, and immigration and ethnicity, following these themes through history and archives. It provides descriptions of additional resources and citations for further reading on each theme and historic period discussed. Together, the report sections are intended to serve as resources to help NPS with historical interpretation of Lowell, its communities, and its textile industry.
