Park Resource Data Series

The National Park Service publishes a range of reports that address natural and cultural resource topics. These reports are of interest and applicability to a broad audience in the National Park Service and others in natural resource management, including scientists, conservation and environmental constituencies, and the public. The Park Resource Data Series is intended for the timely release of data sets and data summaries, as well as documentation of applications to be used in preparing data for release and usage. Reports in the Park Resource Data Series are intended to promote and support open science by helping others reuse National Park Service data, rather than presenting results, testing hypotheses, interpreting findings, or making management recommendations. Two types of reports are included in the report series: 1. Data Release Reports. Provide detailed descriptions of valuable research datasets, including the methods used to collect and process the data, technical analyses to evaluate the quality of those data, and information to guide use of those data. In general, Data Release Reports do not present results of analyses, but summary descriptive statistics about the data within associated data are welcome. Preliminary data may be published. 2. Applications. Documentation of computer programs, including manuals and documentation that pertain to major models, methods, or techniques.
