The Eastern Rivers and Mountains Network (ERMN) has used data loggers since 2014 to measure air temperature, water temperature, and specific conductance of water at wadeable stream monitoring locations for three tasks: 1) contribution to a multi-agency Regional Monitoring Network of ‘reference’ (i.e., relatively undisturbed) streams [six locations], 2) monitoring the effect of a wetland/stream corridor on the thermal regime of an adjacent stream [six locations], and 3) documenting the thermal status of wadeable streams [59 locations] throughout two National Park units. Data logger types and deployment methods differed among research questions but were based on widely used and published approaches. Sensors were tested prior to use to verify performance within manufacturer specifications and loggers were visited approximately quarterly to download data, collect mid-deployment information (e.g., field measurements), and maintain optimal logger deployment conditions. Records were corrected, rated, and stored in AQUARIUS Time Series (V 2022.4).
