The plan addresses emergency stabilization and fire effects on natural & cultural resources, and boundary infrastructure as the result of the Quaker Run Fire 2023. The plan has been prepared in accordance with the National Park Service Manual 18: Wildland Fire Management Chapter 18: Post-Wildfire Programs (April 2019), by John Perez, BAER Lead, National Park Service, biologist, retired. Several Resource Advisors (READs), instructed by Lead READ, Alan Williams (Shenandoah National Park), conducted assessments of post-fire conditions in coordination with members on the Incident Management Teams and park staff. Their observations and findings provide the basis for this report. The Quaker Run Fire originated on private land near the community of Syria, VA, eventually spreading onto lands within the Rapidan Wildlife Management Area (Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources) and Shenandoah National Park.
