This document is the withdrawal of designation report for the STE. CLAIRE (Passenger Steamboat) National Historic Landmark located on the banks of the Detroit River in Detroit, Michigan. For 81 years, the STE. CLAIRE and her sister ship COLUMBIA (NHL, 1992) shared the run from Detroit to Bois Blanc (Bob-Lo) Island, a popular amusement park. This is a record of service unequaled in U.S. maritime history. Columbia and Ste. Claire were the country’s best remaining examples of classic excursion steamers. The STE. CLAIRE was designated an NHL in 1992 and experienced a fire in 2018.
