The National Park Service and Delaware Water Gap is planning a project to address slope failures and pavement deterioration on US Route 209 between mile post (MP) 13.7 and 20.2. The project would also repair or realign a section of the McDade Trail to improve sustainability and accessibility. Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area made a technical assistance request, TAR #33209, for paleontological survey and support for this project. The following is the results of a paleontological resource assessment that was conducted on April 25 and 26, 2024 from the affected quarter mile section of U.S. Route 209 and along the affected area of the McDade Recreation Trail.
