Community assemblages of epibenthic fauna on various host species on the Boston Harbor Islands

Filas H and Byrnes J. Community assemblages of epibenthic fauna on various host species on the Boston Harbor Islands. Research Permit and Reporting System

Here we examine the role of multiple species of algae in facilitating communities of intertidal epifauna. These species provide habitat and ameliorate drying and other harsh conditions for epifauna when not submerged. Broadly, we find that both algal host species and environmental factors influence different aspects of epifaunal community structure in the Boston Harbor intertidal. Results are presented as a poster from the 2021 UMB CREST REU program.
