Peskin S. 2014. Perkins Homestead National Historic Landmark Nomination. National Historic Landmark Nominations. 14000919_NHL. National Park Service. Washington, DC

This document is the National Historic Landmark (NHL) nomination for the Perkins Homestead in Newcastle, Lincoln County, Maine. The NHL nomination for the Perkins Homestead documents its national significance under NHL Criterion 2 as the ancestral home and lifelong summer residence of Frances Perkins, US Secretary of Labor, 1933-45, the nation's first female cabinet secretary and one of its most effective public servants. The period of significance spans her entire lifetime (1880-1965) because it was the place she always considered her true home.
