This document is the National Historic Landmark (NHL) nomination for Omaha Union Station in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. The NHL nomination for the Omaha Union Station documents its national significance under NHL Criterion 4 as an exceptional and highly complete example of Art Deco architecture. Omaha Union Station was one of the earliest Art Deco train stations designed and built in the latter part of the 1920s. The station outstandingly expresses the style’s innovative and diverse surface ornamentation, inspired by the machine age. The period of national significance is 1929 to 1946.
