The design guidelines are intended to aid park managers, architects, and others in their decision-making process with regard to the built environment. They are not hard and fast rules. They are intended to set sideboards within which designers can still find creative solutions. While developed for Rocky Mountain National Park many concepts can be applied in many other park environments. With forethought and sensitivity, the built environment can enhance the visitor experience and protect the important park views.
