Within the boundaries of Kentucky 76 species of wild mammals have been documented(Barbour and Davis 1974, Caldwell 1980, Thomas 2001). Prior to the field survey, a list of species thought to have a reasonable probablility of occurring at ABLI was compiled. Among the expected assemblage of species there are two federally endangered bats[Indiana bat(Myotis sodalis0 and gray bat (Myotis grisescens0] potentially occur at ABLI.The objective of this study, was to conduct a cpmprehensive inventory to document the mammals living within or otherwise using ABLI. The focus of the work was to document 90% (41 of 45) of the expected mammalian fauna.
