In 1984, Susan Anderson resampled plant density and cover on vegetation plots established in 1976 within Saguaro National Monument East by W.F. Steenburgh. After cattle were removed from the Monument, these plots were meant to document baseline vegetation change. Between 1976 and 1984, grass cover and vegetation density greatly increased within the plots.
