Archeological Inventory and Reconnaissance Surveys of Nu‘u, Haleakalā National Park, Maui Island, Hawai‘i; (TMK [2] 1-8-001:002) Determination of Eligibility (DOE) with supporting text, sources, maps, and photographs. The resource was evaluated as sites. Documents find: the archeological resources identified by the survey were evaluated in terms of the significance criteria of the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Table 112 presents the NRHP significance evaluations for the archeological sites documented at Nu‘u. All sites are eligible for listing in the NRHP under Criterion D, with 19 sites also eligible under Criterion C. These latter sites represent structures that embody the characteristics of pre-Contact and late pre-Contact/early historical residential compounds, dryland agricultural complexes, smaller agricultural heiau, petroglyph styles, and a fairly substantial lithic tool manufacturing locale; Site 8201 consists of the remains of a 19th century church complex.
