Intermountain Region New Deal Resources: Research Findings for Glacier National Park

Research the historical resources within the parks of the Intermountain Region with the goal of identifying the buildings, structures and/or projects that may have been either constructed or otherwise modified by agencies of the federal government associated with the New Deal era. As part of this project resources are to be grouped into one of three categories: (a) Projects where research confirms involvement by one or more New Deal agencies; (b) projects where the research cannot definitely rule out the possibility of involvement by New Deal agencies; or (c) projects where the research indicates that involvement by any New Deal agency is doubtful. The scope of the project is such that the research is to be confined to the relevant records on file at the Intermountain Regional Office (IMR) and the Denver Service Center’s Technical Information Office (TIC) both located in Lakewood, Colorado. The search included looking for the following New Deal federal agencies: 1. Civilian Conservation Corps/Emergency Conservation Works (ECW/CCC) 2. Public Works Administration (PWA) 3. Works Projects/Progress Administration (WPA) 4. Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA) 5. Civil Works Administration (CWA) 6. National Industrial Recovery Administration (NIRA) 7. National Reemployment Service (NRS) Upon, completion of the research for each park the contractor will update the List of Classified Structures (LCS) files for the respective New Deal era buildings and structures. The electronic building files will be edited to reflect the construction date, identify pertinent New Deal era program(s), note unique conditions, and revise the bibliography as needed to reflect source documents and drawing numbers.
